Enterprise performance management was supposed to be for the enterprise. What happened?
In many organizations, the finance team is on a constantly moving "hamster wheel" of planning, closing, reporting and analyzing. As soon as the month, quarter or year ends, the cycle starts once again. Improvements to the wheel, such as automation, driver-based planning and rolling forecasts, ought to enable a finance team to become more proficient at evaluating an organization's performance. Yet all too often, as individual departments and business units seek to measure their own performance, finance teams lose rather than gain visibility into the overall organization.
